Big Sis isn't your typical girl next door. She's the one that's got your back but will put you in your place. She's sugar and spice and everything nice. The one you look up to for the good and the bad. 100% unapologetically her.
Big Sis was started on the idea that the life we live creates an impact on the people we encounter and the earth we live on. We want to be a brand that pushes the industry towards a more sustainable future and encourages consumers to understand the impact of what they purchase by buying quality, unique, small batch products from a small business.
The name Big Sis came from an old friend who was very influential in my upbringing. At a time when I was easily molded, She was there to teach me to be kind but don't take any shit. She inspired me to be educated in what really made me happy and go to college when I didn't think I could. She was the late-night talks, the brutally honest advice, the unwavering support I didn’t know I needed. She was my Big Sis. When I first started making clothes, I struggled to find the right name—something that truly represented what I wanted to build. And no, I'm not a big sis in the actual sense. I'm the youngest with two older brothers, but Sheyla was my Big Sis. In this time of stressing on a brand name, I found out she had passed away a few months before and I knew instantly that would be the name.
Big Sis isn’t just about fashion—it’s about impact. It’s about being the kind of person who lifts others up, who tells the truth even when it’s hard, who encourages strength, confidence, and kindness. That’s what Sheyla was for me. And that’s what I hope Big Sis can be for others.
I do this for her.
xoxo

HAND-MADE IN OCEANSIDE CALIFORNIA
Hi, I’m Alanna! Owner and maker of everything Big Sis. I’ve been immersed in the world of clothing making for almost 10 years, and my journey has been a mix of formal education and self-driven exploration. I recently graduated Fashion Design at Palomar College, but much of my foundation comes from years of private lessons and self-teaching.
I’m really passionate about quality, well-made clothes and accessories that have a purpose—whether it’s the design, the materials, or the fact that they’re made with care. Outside of fashion, you’ll usually find me surfing, skateboarding, or playing music—just things that keep me feeling inspired and grounded.
